Vanda Spengler - Various works

We met Vanda Spengler yesterday. It was her turn to "keep" the gallery where was the "Corps vieux" ("Old bodies") collective exhibition (in Paris, at the 59 Rivoli). But unfortunately it's over (see here for more info, in French, about it, maybe it will be hosted by other towns in the future, it deserves it). Looking, after our small and very nice talk, what was usually Vanda's work, it was clear it fitted completely with the thema of Scoptophilia, even if bodies in her work are more in support of discourses, either about internal torments (in Vertigo),the place of the human body in nature (in Origines), or the flesh as a concrete material but not in its incarnation (in Blocs de chair), the iconography is strong and this Swiss-born (in 1982) artist living in Paris, would deserve to have an international notoriety. I hope to contribute, modestly, to it with this post, since most of the visitors are not French. Her site here, her tumblr blog there. Above, a selection of my favorite images found on her site. Below a video about a film on her. Impossible to integrate the film (Vanda Spengler... aura ta peau) in the post so you can see it here (54 min)

    1. Merci pour elle. En plus elle est d'une grande gentillesse ce qui ne gâche rien. dk

    2. Had to translate that. Not sure the translation does it justice though.

  2. That meant "thank you for her. Moreover she's a very gentle person, which does not spoil anything".

  3. Then the translation was not all that bad.
